Our Story
What started as a once a year, one or two day event, "Norwood Art Walk", grew into what is now Norwood Art Connection. It was obvious at the onset that what was needed to create a vibrant arts community would take more than an occasional event. More locations needed to be found to create opportunities for artists to display their work which meant seeking new partners in the business community, and more effort needed to be made to involve the viewing public.
There have been several studies done that show the positive economic impact that Art has on a community. Art and economic development connect when creative industries, cultural organizations, and individual artists drive local job growth, tourism, and community revitalization. Norwood has the artists, the businesses, and a burgeoning interest in cultural expansion.
By fostering strong relationships among artists, local businesses, and the public, we are implementing innovative outreach initiatives and exploring nontraditional exhibit opportunities. Our approach provides artists with greater chances to display and sell their artwork while businesses benefit from increased foot traffic and visibility. Through our efforts, the community can encounter art in familiar and inviting spaces, enriching the local cultural landscape.
